BEACHES
North Beaches east of Christiansted:
Buccaneer Hotel Beach, east of Christianstead off of Rt 82, ( East End
Road) lovely palm tree lined beach with bar and food service at the Buccaneer
Beach Bar.
Shoys Beach, east of Christiansted and just east of the Buccaneer Hotel
a somewhat more private beach and requires a short walk from parking spot.
Tamarind Reef Hotel Beach, east of Christiansted east of Shoys Beach,
by the Green Cay Marina. A palm tree lined reef beach with bar and food
service at Tamarind Beach Bar and minimal play ground for children.
Tague Point Beach east of Christiansted off of Rt 82 ( East End Road)
by Duggans Restaurant. Palm tree lined beach seldom occupied. Park in
Duggans lot and walk short distance to beach. Bar and food service when
(if) Duggans is open.
Cottongarden Point Beach extreme end of East End Road past the Base Array
Telescope and before Point Udall (eastern most point of United States).
Many times highly populated local beach with boom boxes and parties.
East End Bay Beach right by Point Udall you must park off the road and
walk a distance to the typically private beach.
North Beaches west of Christiansted:
Club St Croix Resort Beach, west of Christiansted Rt 70 toward Rt 74
(Northside Rd) turn right(toward the ocean) heading west at Kentucky Fried
Chicken . Look for Signs for Breezez Restaurant Bar park in that lot and
walk to beach. If the security will not allow you to park there buy a
drink and go to the beach.
Salt River Bay Beach off North Shore Road
Frederiksted Beaches
Rainbow Beach is directly north of Frederiksted on Rt 63 and extends
along the road with several eateries and bars along the beach road. Exceptional
sunsets.
Sprat Hall Beach is a continuation of Rainbow Beach and difficult to
tell where one starts and the other ends. Good snorkeling.
Dorsch Beach is south of Fredricksted as you head toward the fish market
and the boat launch area take a left along the ocean. A long expanse of
beach, popular to local weekend parties with a community park running
the full length of the beach.
Sandy Point Wildlife Preserve is at the westerly most point of St Croix
and must be accessed from the south side of the point. Access to this
location is limited through out the year due to turtle habitat nesting.
Long Point Bay Beach is off of Rt 66 at the end of Good Hope Road by
Good Hope School. This a very private stretch of beach with a cove setting.
Somewhat removed with only a few private homes and palm tree farm close
by.
South Shore Beaches
Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino Beach is off of Rt 60, South Shore Road,
at the east end of the island and provides the fullest all around services
of any beach setting with full resort services.
Graptree Beach is a bit farther east of Divi Carina Bay on South Shore
Road, Rt 60. A small cliff drops to a rather private beach and is a popular
snorkel and SCUBA area. Unlike "The Wall" this area provides a more typical
ocean setting for denizen views.
Jack & Isaac's Bay Beaches are beyond the South Shore Road where Rt 60
turns left continue right along the ocean to the Jack & Isaac Bays Preserve
area. Weekdays are usually a rather private beach setting and plenty of
good snorkeling.
Buck Island Beaches
Diedrich's Point Beach is accessed only by boat and is a wide sandy beach.
This is a popular weekend boat mooring spot.
Fishing
Numerous fishing charter providers can schedule trophy sport fishing
or seafood fishing in Christiansted. Call Caribbean Sea Adventures to
get the information 773-2628 Championship marlin,yellowfin tuna, and wahoo
can usually be found off the north shore. If you want a challenging tournament

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
St Croix is the only island in the Caribbean where you can dive a reef,
a wall, a wreck and a pier, in the same day.
Buck Island National Monument has crystal clear water and has a marked
underwater trail with identifying markings for the underwater flora and
fauna on the reef trail. This area can accommodate both the snorkeling
and the SCUBA diver. Typically boat access to Buck Island can be booked
on either Big Bead's Adventure 773-4482 or Mile Mark Watersports 773-2628
St Croix has the very best wall diving in the Caribbean all along the
north shore from Salt River to Fredriksted. Cane Bay is the easiest place
to access the wall since it is only a hundred yards off the beach and
can easily be reached without a boat. The wall drops to depths of 13,000
feet along the north shore. Numerous dive shops abound on St Croix the
names of two are Cane Bay Dive Shop 773-9913 and Anchor Dive 778-1522
There are a multiple shipwreck diving sites around St Croix. Scuba West,
772-3701 and N2 the Blue, 713-1475 as well as any other listed dive shop
can boat you to a wreck site for diving.
Pier diving at the Fredriksted Pier is one of the best macro-dives anywhere
in the Caribbean. You are likely to find seahorses, Christmas tree worms,
and sponges. South of the Pier, is Kings Reef with a slight slope full
of coral, sponges and fans.
All of the mentioned places will provide exceptional snorkeling or SCUBA.
Historical Tours
Christopher Columbus Landing Site is at the mouth of the Salt River and
can be accessed off of the North Shore Road by the Salt River Marina.
Christopher Columbus sailed up the Salt River during his 1493 voyage to
the Americas in search off fresh water. His landing party put ashore where
they were met with hostile natives and ventured no further.
Whim Plantation Tour outside of Fredriksted on Rt 70 is an authentic
Danish sugar estate from the 1700's when sugar was king and slave labor
provided the work force. In 1803 the slave trade was discontinued on St
